Resonances in meson-meson and meson-baryon scattering amplitudes from lattice QCD

First-principles lattice QCD calculations of hadron-hadron
scattering amplitudes have undergone substantial progress in recent years, due
to both an increase in computer resources and efficient algorithms for
treating quark propagation. Elastic pion-pion and pion-kaon amplitudes are
entering a new era of high precision, and I will report on recent benchmark
calculations of the rho(770) and K*(892) resonances as well as the isovector
timelike pion form factor. The status of meson-baryon amplitudes is
considerably less mature, and I will present first results on the Delta(1232)
and the Lambda(1405).
